Moments in Time - If Heaven Weren't So Far Away

There is something so rewarding about telling our family's stories through my artwork.
To document the lives of our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Seeing them as small children or young adults... in a different place and time.

What were their hopes and dreams?
What were their fondest childhood memories?
The list of questions would go on and on.  What a blessing it would be to sit down over a cool glass of lemonade and reminisce about days gone by.
To get to know Ken's mom and dad, that died when he was just a boy.
What was their favorite past time?
What were their hopes and dreams for their children?

Would they be proud of their son for the wonderful man, loving husband and father that he has become?

I am reminded of the song that brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it...
"If Heaven Weren't So Far Away" by Justin Moore.
Wouldn't it be great to pack up the kids and head there for the day?

To have them meet their Grandpa George and Grandma Prissy.
To hear the stories about their dad when he was just a child.
To have them get a big hug from their tiny Great Grandma Jones and have her teach them to crochet.
To go fishing with their Great PaPa and hear him laugh when they caught that teeny, tiny perch instead of the big crappie that they hoped it to be.

To visit their Great Granddad Jones and hear his childhood stories just one more time.
What I wouldn't give if I could visit each of them just one more time...

What would you ask your beloved family member if you had an opportunity to?  I would sure love to hear.

(sharing more of my recent heritage album that I created for The Scrappy Gourmet.)

Great point as having a glimpse of our parents as children- would bring a lot of insight. Your pages are so magical! Have a great weekend!
