Farm Grown Love Album

There is something about spending time in the garden.  Reaching in the cold dark dirt.  Planting seeds, hopes and dreams that start to grow.
It is inspiring to see all the beauty spring forth.

This spring, I again started my garden.

Starting some from seeds early in the spring and other from small plants.
This year I decided to add strawberries.  It has been so great to see these lovelies grow and ripen.
And then have my son say after tasting them say "Mom, I never knew strawberries were this good!"
Before he wouldn't even try strawberries and now he wants more to eat.
This year we started pumpkins too.  They are starting to take off and the excitement is contagious!  I can't wait for fall.

It is the together times spent in the garden that brings me such joy.  To see them get excited to see if they can find another ripened strawberry or another zucchini ready for the table.
Gardening is a return to the simpler life.  Slowing down and enjoying the small moments.
I so would love to be a farm girl, with more land to have a larger garden, have a few chickens and maybe some horses.
But for now I am incredibly blessed to have a house with a backyard, large enough to have a garden.
Yes, gardening is work and time, but the rewards are so much more.
Picking some mint leaves to put in a cold tall glass of lemonade or putting some fresh oregano in for seasoning.
Or having fried green tomatoes... yummy!
But the best part of my garden, is spending precious time with my darling husband and kiddos.
These are the memories that I will cherish.

I recently completed this Farm Grown Love Album for The Scrappy Gourmet and it will be available soon.   I chocked it full of lovely vintage images from Crafty Secrets.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

I look forward to my garden all winter. Your book is great, I'll bet a lovely garden journal like that would be nice to have around to look through during the cold months while waiting to plant!

OK, Sheila,
These are getting more wonderful all the time (though mine is still and always will be my favorite). I hope you are sending some in for publication. Your colors, placement, journaling works wonderfully together.
