Enjoy the Little Things

Thanksgiving seems to be just around the corner. I can almost smell the stuffing, and turkey. And of course my homemade apple pie that has been a tradition for many years. It is about the only time of year that I make my pie, as it is so labor intensive. It takes a long time to peel, core the apples and make my homemade crust. Several years ago, I decided to take a shortcut and serve my homemade pie on a store bought crust. We definitely found out that it just didn’t taste the same. After that, I promised myself and my family that I would take the time to lovely make the crust even though it meant getting up earlier to do it. It is so worth it. With my busy and hectic lifestyle, this is a little reminder I need to slow down and enjoy the little things and faster isn’t always better.

Enjoy your day, dear friends.

That is such a problem these days, we don't slow down and just enjoy life, the simple pleasures. this world doesn't let us do that. But I have to agree, homemade crust is the only way, even if it takes more work! I haven't bought a crust in years. but I make enough to make it worth it and freeze it. I can smell the apple pie now...mmmm!

Hi Sheila... I am so glad you will be making your traditional apple pie with homemade crust... sooo much better! I never break family traditions, and yes, it does take alot longer but I always make my pies from scratch and my mama's recipes... to me, there is just something peaceful and nostalgic about doing so... and it reminds me of happy times with my family when I was a little girl... plus, I know there are only fresh ingredients in it!... Thanks for reminding me to take plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life... it really is the little things that matter most... xoxo Julie Marie
