Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun.
Mary Lou Cook
This quote, that I found on Rebecca Sower’s blog, truly sums up with I have been feeling recently. For the past several months, I have been eyeing and starting to dabble and experiment with art that once I thought was a little “out there” for me. I have always admired Rebecca Sower’s artwork. She truly speaks to my heart, from her heartfelt journaling, to her love of quotes, to her special way that she blends old items and pictures with new products. Through the wonderful world of blogging, it has opened more doors to artists that I have come to enjoy their style… Teresa McFayden, for her romantic, feminine art, to Artsy Mama, Kari Ramstrom, for her way of using “junk” to make incredible art, to a new found artist – Little Melfie, Melissa Lobdell, for her way of using images of old photos and creating nostalgic art.
I came across this wonderful edition from Stampington Somerset Holidays & Celebrations. It is chock full of wonderful artwork, some that truly inspires me and others that are still a little “out there”, but for the most part I hope to start experimenting and making mistakes with this new found art. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to take some risks and post some, but for now I will just begin having fun creating a new art that inspires me.
