Family Reunion

This weekend we headed for Blythedale, MO for the annual Hon Family Reunion, which is my Grandma’s family. She was 1 of 8 children, pictured here in 1979 - she was on the back row far left. Though this year marked another death of the original 8, my Aunt PeeWee (Mable), the only one left, was in good health and able to attend. This is the highlight of my Mom’s summer, a time when she can reconnect with her cousins she grew up and show everyone her family. It is a good time with tons of food, poetry read written by Grandma and her sisters, Mom’s homemade pecan pies, family stories and laughter. Sherri and her family and mine were able to attend this year, so with 11 in attendance Mom won a jar of peanuts for having the most family there this year. Mom was just glowing! We also recognized and honored the men and women who served our country, past and present. Dad, Ken and Darren stood up with all the other couragous men and women who served our country. I know that Grandma was lovingly looking down from above and so very proud of her family!

Oh, Sheila, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, but what a great reunion!
