Investing in Yourself

Being a wife, mom and working outside the home sometimes doesn't allow me extra time to learn new things.  But this summer, I decided to schedule time in to take a new class from Junelle Jacobson, called Farmer's Market.    It has been an amazing class, filled with inspiration and fun.
I have tried my hand at sketching over the years, but always was very critical of my artwork.  Many times getting frustrated and putting it down.  Now, I am taking time each day to to sketch and I am learning to enjoy the process.
The best part of sketching is learning again how to create with watercolors.  I just love the process of mixing the colors, applying them and watching my sketches come alive.  As I get more comfortable with sharing my projects with you all, I will.  Not all are 5 star quality, (see my blogging friend Beth's post on it), but I am learning how to be alright with that.  What is most important, is that I am taking the time to invest in myself and my creativity.  By making time to be creative, I have more energy and am able to give that much more as a wife and mom.

Hoping you find time to invest in you today, sweet friends.

Oh I love the sound of that -"Investing in yourself". Good for you for taking a class and taking the time to just enjoy it!

I sure think it looks like fun!

I do hope you will share! I think everything you make is beautiful and you are just too critical of yourself.

It is important to take time for ourselves so we don't feel resentment and get burned out.

I've taken one of Junelle's small classes and this one looks fantastic!

I love that too. I have been doing a water colour journal for some time now and love looking and being inspired by what others do. Love your pictures in this post. Will be following

How wonderful. I keep saying I will do a daily journal, a travel journal, a gratitude journal. I will sketch, I will doodle, I will paint. Instead, all I do is crochet. ha! :) Enjoy the process. Tammy

Such sound investment strategy. Watercoloring and drawing are so relaxing and rewarding...time spent with nothing else to disrupt art. Creative Bliss...
