Photoshop Friday - Adding Patterns to Background Papers

February 7, 2014

Welcome to another Photoshop Friday easy and fun tutorial.  Today, we will be adding pattern to background papers.  I just love how adding the preset patterns in Photoshop Elements can give your paper a whole new look.
(Layout using Crafty Secrets Vintage Valentine KitCreating with Vintage Patterns, Sweet Stuff Digital Stamps and varies stitches and sparkles)

To begin create your artwork file and move the pattern paper to be used.

Choose the Layer drop down, click on New Fill Layer and then Pattern.  Then click OK.

Next choose the pattern texture that you would like to use by clicking on it.

To increase or decrease the scale use the drop down arrow and drag the slider bat to the desired look.

Next use the Blending Mode drop down and choose the desired blending mode.  Remember that if you don't like it you can always click the Undo Button at the bottom left of your screen.

This gave the pattern paper an almost gingham effect.  How fun is that?

I hope you enjoyed another fun and easy Photoshop Friday tutorial.  Do you have a Photoshop Elements question or want to see a tutorial on something specific?  Let me know and I will be happy to help.

I am also joining Jenn Rizzo's Fabulously Creative Friday today.  Won't you join me?

Thanks so much for  visiting me.  See you again next time!

I can't believe how different the paper looks, it reminds me of a cross stitch pattern now. Very cool, I just need to find time to sit down and try a bunch of the techniques you have been teaching and play.

I think one of the best things about digital is you can click your back button and undo anything you don't like, so it's not like you cut ever cut your last piece of fave paper. Thanks so much for posting these tutorials Sheila!
