Today, I am joining the Crafty Secrets Design Team Challenge. Each month we join together to share our artwork, won't you join us? You can find the information on the Heartwarming Vintage Blog. This month I will be sharing a easy digital layout using Blending Modes to change the look.
I used the Crafty Secrets Thanksgiving Collection to create this digital layout of my dear sister and her lovely family.
There are many different looks that you can achieve by changing Blending Modes in Photoshop. For my tutorial, I used Photoshop Elements 11.
The beautiful images file can be changed to come up with different looks for your artwork.
Make sure to open the files to be used and duplicate the layer so you do not change anything on the original file.
Once you have a duplicate layer, click on the Cookie Cutter icon and select the crop shape wanted along with amount of feather that you would like. This may take some playing with it to achieve the look that you want.
Drag the Crop Tool to crop the image and then click on the green check mark to apply. Please remember that if you don't like it the Undo Button can be used to Undo it.
Then click the Move Tool to move it to your artwork.
If you still want to take away some of the image you can use the Eraser Tool.
Once you have it they way you like, select the Drop Down Menu and select the Blending Mode you want to apply. Play with this until you like what you see.
For my layout I used the Luminosity Blending Mode.
I hope you enjoyed this fun and easy digital tutorial. Every Friday this month, is Photoshop Friday on my site. Last Friday, I shared a tutorial on Basics of Blending for photos - Click here to see! This Friday, I will be sharing more Photoshop fun. Hope to see you here!
