A Sad Heart

September 25, 2013

My heart is truly breaking and so very sad.  We just found out recently that my sweet dad, the Dad who God blessed us with when we were 3 years old when he married our mom, has cancer...

Being a child of divorce, God blessed my twin sister, Sherri, and I with 2 Moms and 2 Dads and 3 other wonderful sisters.  Divorce hasn't always been an easy journey, but I have been so blessed by our "bonus" Dad.

He was the one who kissed our skinned knees, waited up for us making sure that we got home and attended our school functions.  He eagerly accept his role as Grandpa, and was there waiting in the hospital as each of his grandchildren were born.

He has been the lap that my children have sat on for numerous back rubs and scratches, he has been the one that loudly cheers them on from the stands and is always waiting for them to give them a big hug and kiss.

We have been incredibly blessed!

Between our love for each other along with our faith that God will get Dad through this, we move onto the next journey.  Praying for a journey of healing for my dad so he can be with us for many years to come and be strong enough to cruise to Alaska in 2014.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am hoping that someday my son will come to acccept his step-father as at least a friend. Nothing would do my heart more good. God will carry you through. Blessings to your "dad".

This is not a journey I would wish for my best friend...or for her Dad. My heart hurts, and I am sad too, because I have the privilege of knowing and loving your family. Each and every day, you are all in my thoughts and my heartfelt prayers. Be strong, have faith dear friend, and know that you are loved more.
