Crafty Secrets DT Challenge, Tutorial and Linky Party

May 6, 2013

Today, I am joining in the Crafty Secrets Design Team Challenge with a  few digital layouts and a fun, easy tutorial on layering digital files.

Crafty Secrets is also celebrating National Scrapbook Day through midnight Wed, May 8th with 30% off in their store! What a great time to save big on some wonderful products!

Whether you are creating and all digital artwork or want to create a picture with frame and print it to use in your traditional or hybrid artwork, this tutorial will show you how.  I am no expert by any means, but I hope these easy steps will get you on your way to creating beautiful digital creations.

Open your files that you would like to create with from your CD.

In my example I am creating a digital layout, but wanted to layer a picture with frame on top.

By positioning the picture over the frame, it allows you to see clearly that it fits inside the frame and make any adjustments.

By moving the picture underneath the frame layer it now moves the frame on top of the picture.

By merging the 2 layers down to 1 layer, it allows you to move and position this as 1 object instead of moving each layer separately.

This same process can be used to merge multiple elements (layers) into 1, thus allowing you to move multiple layers together.

Thank You Sheila for posting another great layout with your awesome step by step tips for doing digital! I love how you show each step and describe it with easy to follow arrows. One of my favorite things about digital is you are never really 'cutting up' your favorite paper or image, you can re-use them over and over and click on the 'BACK' button if you don't like the look of something. It's like anything - practice makes perfect, although none of it needs to be perfect!

Thanks for sharing
