Proof is in the Bottle

February 7, 2013

My sweet Grandma had the talent of finding discarded items and turning them into beautiful treasures.  All she had were her crochet hooks, small pearls and a loving and giving heart.

I remember her sitting in her chair reminiscing of days gone by and telling us bible stories while she crocheted each treasure that she would gift to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

What these lovely bottles with the delicate crochet doesn't show is that she suffered from Parkinson's disease.  A disease that made her head and hands shake, sometimes very violently.  But through all the turbulence of her body, God gave her this incredible strength and willpower to create.

God called her home many years ago, but her beautiful creations still grace my home.  Each time I see them, I a reminded of her and her incredible faith in God.  God can work miracles even with bodies that are worn and broken... these bottles are proof.

Wishing you a beautiful day, dear friends.

Aren't our beloved ancestors such blessings? I have quilt tops from my mother and embroidered pillowcases with crocheted edgings from my grandmother. I cherish each of them, and love to look at them when I am feeling lonely or need some peaceful memories to quiet an extremely busy day.
You are so lucky to have such items that you can display and see every day.
