It's How you Live

April 19, 2011

I took a break from updating my blog, to really get my hands dirty and finish a project that I had started for myself. After I had purchased the new Farm Fresh Creative Scraps from The Scrappy Gourmet, I was drawn to this saying “Being a farm girl isn’t where you live. It’s how you live!”
I have been itching to create something for myself with it. For years, we have dreamed about living on acreage out in the country, but reality is that we live in a nice home in a subdivision in a small town.
I love my home and feel incredibly blessed, in these hard economic times, to have this beautiful house to come home to.

There is a part of me that yearns for the small farm life… the gathering of the eggs from the chicken coop, riding horses, enjoying fresh grown produce from the garden and having my children experience this life.

For now, I am enjoying having a small garden in my backyard, buying fresh eggs when I can find them and riding horses at my Dad’s house.
So for now, I am reminded it isn’t where you live it is how you live…
Wishing you all a wonderful day.

i think it is just the old saying that you always want what you don't have. i really do love living on a farm, but i think deep down i am a beach girl. but who knows, if i lived on a beach, i would probably long for the country. it would just be fun to live differently for about a month and then go back to home.

So very true, dear friend:) And you are a country girl at heart!! I adore this creative piece you made for yourself...love how you used the 7G tray! I have one of these sitting on my dining room table just waiting for me to figure out what I want to do with it;)

Hi Sheila... oooh, this is my most favorite thing yet!... I love it!... and you are right, it's not where you live but how you live... I miss our little farm I posted about previously, and so often wish for more acreage like you, but then I look around and see how blessed I really am, and I am happy in my home too... all of the pieces you used on that are just perfect!... I love the farm life wherever I live!... xoxo Julie Marie PS How fun that you and your friend will be going to Na~Da Farm!

Very well said. I love your collage and how it honors the farm life. I think no matter how hard the daily work, it just has to be a slower paced more enjoyable way to live and appreciate life. I am in no way a farm girl...never have been even though my parents tried! Happy farming to you...

Oh, Sheila. This is a wonderful piece. I was also touched by your gratefulness...of having a beautiful home to come home to in these hard times. Some times I just take that for granted. I actually have always believed you lived on a farm...which proves that it is just a state of mind!
This is my second favorite piece. The first is...my scrapbook, of course!!!
With huge hugs,
Suz

Hi Sheila, you have been doing some blog remodeling over here. Looks great! We are in the midst of another dust storm. I sure wouldn't mind being on a little farm somewhere in the world right now where all is brightand beautiful. Wishing you all the best, Tammy

"Its not where you live, it's how you live"- that's a great saying; something I need to remind myself of when I find myself wanting an all new kitchen or new furniture.

Love your farm assemblage- so many fun details!
