A Swap for All Seasons

February 16, 2011

I just had to share what I created for my swap partner, Heather of a Speckled Egg, after I found out she received it.

I just love all the layers, textures and the feel of these little quilted minis. Each layer stitched together and then embellished. The pink fabric used for the rose and background was from a vintage tablecloth of my Grandma's. The bottom sheer fabric was used off a vintage apron string. I just love to bringing new life to old items.

I can't wait to find the time to make more of these art quilts.

Hoping you have a beautifully creative day.

It is a beauty! Such a pretty pink...made all the more special because it once belonged to your grandmother:)

Your colors are just perfect...so feminine and dainty looking. The ruffle is really a cute addition. I, too, found this sewing project to be very fulfilling and fun to do. I ripped a lot and changed things over and over again, but I was happy with my end product. Next time I need to “have a plan.” It will certainly make my life easier!

I don't always leave a comment, but I love that you've been posting more- I enjoy your posts- and I love making little art quilts too- especially from recycled linens- old napkins, hankies, runners etc.
