Creating Beauty

November 16, 2010

To end this year’s Silver Bella festivities, we got the pleasure of listening to Jenny Doh speak. It was an amazing speech that truly touched my heart, brought tears to my eyes and laughter to my lips. It summed up eloquently why I have this need to create something beautiful. She shares stories of women in tough life scenes and how they have used art and creativity to bring them through those tough times. And as we embrace our creativity and pick up that needle, paintbrush or soldering iron, we are taking the first steps to creating beauty even though we may be experiencing some not-so-pleasant scenes in our lives. She summed it up by saying “…we all hurt. And if we are willing to open our hearts and hands, and say yes to the process, and say yes to the community, we will not need a fast forward button or a stop button … we will be able to live through each scene because no matter what scene we may be in we will always know that we are capable of creating beauty, and we are not alone.” I have felt such a sense of belonging here in my creative world. Where others encourage you, lift you up and help you through some of those tough life scenes. I have found a wonderful creative community here in blogland. Each comment is read and cherished. Thank you, dear friends from the bottom of my heart. Click here for Jenny Doh’s entire speech.
