Holiday Baking - Sheila Style

December 15, 2009

Ok, I am not the best chef in the kitchen. For many that know my family, my DH is the resident chef in our kitchen. From chicken fried chicken and mashed taters, to his chili and his signature spaghetti and meat sauce. Everything is lovingly made mostly from scratch. Can you just smell all the lovely goodness?
To me cooking is just cooking, I don't really enjoy it that much. I would rather spend the extra moments with my family or in my studio. I love to come up with some lovely baked goodies with the help of mixes and pre-made items. Here is my latest creation using a tried and true pound cake mix that I mixed in some almond extract. I then topped with drizzled chocolate, fresh raspberries, kiwi and sprinkled with powdered sugar. It was so yummy and was the hit of the holiday parties I took it to... not bad for a mix and a little extra!
