Lasts

November 11, 2009

This past weekend Connor's football team advanced and played in the Super Bowl, held at our high school's football field. The amount of fans that packed the stands was awesome. It was like nothing we had experienced before. Unfortunately, the game didn't go as we had hoped, but what was so amazing is that the boys came together as a team of brothers playing with heart and putting everything they had into it. It was the last game played with these group of boys that came together over the past years and formed bounds that will last on and off the football field. It also marked the last time my DH will stand on the sidelines coaching Connor in football as he will go into 7th grade middle school sports activities next year. My DH has coached Connor since he was a kindergartener, playing flag football. All those special moments between coach and player, dad and son... gone for the last time on the football field. It makes my heart ache. My kids are growing up at lightening speed and I wish that time would slow down as I am realizing that all too soon my kids will be graduating high school, going on to college and lives of their own. For now I am savoring the moments... each one. Today there is no more football, the gear has been turned in and now we are focused on basketball where again my DH will be coaching Connor for the last time this year. But for now I won't think of all the "lasts", I'll think about living in the moment and savoring each precious one. Love you guys!

Leah C said it beautifully! Baseball season is just beginning here. We have to take advantage of the fair weather we are having now. I am usually scorekeeper and team mom for both my sons, but this year, only my 6th grader is playing, and I've decided to let other parents take over those roles I usually take on. That way, I'll get to actually enjoy watching my son play the game. Blessings, Tammy

It does go way too fast but keep savoring the moments....even though it flies by, the good times keep coming!
