Apron Love

November 2, 2009

My dear friend Nora, helped me create my apron for Silver Bella's Night of 100 Aprons. I had envisioned something that was me, that combined my love of vintage things, creams and earth tones and chickens. Definitely, not what I first thought a Bella was - all pink, glitter and frills. I found a wonderful feed sack, vintage cream skirt and wonderful lace pieces to include. Nora lovingly helped me create something more beautiful than I could have ever dreamed possible.

Not only is Nora incredibly talented at the sewing machine, but painting too. She combined my love of nests, eggs and my honeysuckle vine that reminds me of my lovely home and fond childhood memories. Just look at the detail in the grape vine and nest!

Even the back is finished out beautifully as the ties we made from the balance of the skirt and then lined them with earthtone fabrics. The shoulder straps were made from the balance of the feed sack. I then embellished a small piece of the feed sack that shows an arrow and says open here. The arrow is a reminder of Nora with her boyscouts and the order of the arrow.

Here is my finished apron. My lovely daughter modeled it so I could take pictures. Thank you Janna!

Nora, thank you so much for all your help in creating this beautiful apron that I will always cherish. Every time I wear it I am reminded of you, our wonderful friendship and all the hours spent lovingly creating this together.

That is such a lovely creation! I'm afraid that I haven't even had a chance to think about an apron yet!! I can't wait to see all the beautiful ones there, but I sure hope that I end up with one too.
