New Path

June 14, 2009

There are some people that touch your heart and soul. People that "get you" - from the moment you meet. They feel like long lost friends and you know that you will walk this wonderful journey of life together. So many of my friends that share my life are these type of friends. When I first met Sheila C at her lovely store, Vintiques, I knew instantly she was that sort of friend - she "got me".

(article from the KC Life on Sheila and Vintiques)

A few weeks ago, having a creative brain freeze after the death of my step mom, I decided to go and soak in the inspiration at Vintiques. I was met by a big hug from Sheila as we talked about my family, my mom, and the incredible need to create and not being able to do so. She generously pulled me in the studio and started gathering things to inspire me to create. Little trinkets and treasures that to most people it would be something to throw in the trash, but it meant the world to me....

Thank you Sheila, I needed you that day and you were there...

This past week, Sheila has had to make one of the hardest decisions - to close Vintiques. Her wonderful store filled with dreams, love, inspiration, treasures and friendships. My heart aches for her and Craig. As I dropped by on Friday, it was bitter sweet. As I shopped the store, I realized this was much more than a store for me it was where other like-minded people gathered to nurture their creative souls. As I was collecting some more goodies, Sheila treated me with some wonderful treasures... As I opened lovingly pulled out each treasure, tears streamed down my face. I realize that now another page is turning, a new one for both Sheila and Craig and I wish them the all best. But for now, I am looking forward to continuing to walk down the journey of life knowing that this is not the end it is only the beginning of a new path....

It's such a shame that beautiful places like Vintiques have to close their doors...more than a store is lost. Wishing your friends well has they travel a new path:)
