In Bloom

June 25, 2009

Every year since we moved into our house, we have debated about taking down this tree. It was planted by the previous owner and isn't our favorite from the fan like leafs to the bush like appearance. We haven't had good luck with the other trees we inherited when we purchase our home. One we cut down due to the location of where it had been planted and then this past spring our Purple Ash died. We were heartbroken at the lose as it was our favorite tree. This little Mimosa tree is one of the last standing trees in our yard (not counting the woods behind our house), so we hate to cut it down.
This evening as I was taking the dogs out, I noticed the blooms... Why hadn't I noticed them before? Or maybe I had and don't remember. I just had to take pictures of it so I could remember the beauty of this tree. So next time when we think about cutting out this tree, I will look back at the beauty of it in bloom....

I love the mimosa bloom as well. A rather well to do lady I talked to many years ago said they cut one down as she found the flowers so tawdry. Isn't that a funny description? I mean a little judgemental. Its just doing its job right? Ha, enjoy!

I actually just noticed the same thing about a tree in our backyard that I am not a fan of...I came home one day and all of a sudden saw blooms on it...and was delighted. It's sometimes so easy to miss the beauty right in front of us!
