Best Treasure

June 16, 2008

Friday I took a wonderful hour and lost myself in the River Market Antique Store. I so enjoy trying to find treasures to incorporate into my art. I was so excited when I found these treasures at wonderful bargain prices! I just loved the flower needlepoint and thought it would compliment my shabby chic room makeover that I am doing. I also found earrings, a frame, old book and flower frog too. The frame, I bought to give to my sister Sherri as she fell in love with my button artwork inspired by Rebecca Sower. Yesterday I presented her with some vintage cream buttons, earrings, old lace tied up in a cloth that she could use in her creation. I so enjoyed sharing these goodies with her and hope that she finds time to make one herself. I then took an old oval frame that I had lying around and transformed it with a little pink and cream paint and Van Dyke Brown. Then I cut down the beautiful needlepoint and put it into the frame. WaLa instant artwork for my wall, and all under $10.00!! Gotta Love that!!! Janna loved it so much that she asked if she could put it in her room that we are redecorating in a shabby chic d├ęcor. Of course, I said “Yes”, even though I had the perfect spot in my room. Since we started changing her room, we have enjoyed antiquing, creating and just being together. I just love our time together, as that is the best treasure of all!

Oh I love poking around River Market- looks like you found some goodies- what a beautiful needlepoint- and I love to use those flower frogs as little easels for old pictures.
